AGRO4AGRI Showcases Sustainable Fertilisation Innovation at European Biomass Conference & Exhibition
María Magdalena Peña, researcher at Centro Tecnológico CTC, represented the AGRO4AGRI project at the 33rd European Biomass Conference & Exhibition (EUBCE 2025), held from 9 to 12 June 2025 in Valencia, Spain. As the world’s leading event on biomass and bioeconomy innovation, EUBCE brought together experts from across Europe to explore how renewable biological resources can drive the transition to a sustainable and circular economy. AGRO4AGRI’s participation highlighted its commitment to advancing sustainable fertilisation strategies within this broader context.
Presenting AGRO4AGRI’s Vision for Sustainable Agriculture
During her presentation, María Magdalena Peña introduced an innovative slow-release fertiliser developed within the AGRO4AGRI project. This solution combines biobased materials with nanotechnology to create a fertiliser that releases nutrients gradually, aligning with plant needs and reducing environmental losses. The approach enhances nutrient use efficiency, improves soil health, and supports the transition to more resilient and circular farming systems.
Supporting EU Green Deal and Farm to Fork Goals
AGRO4AGRI’s fertilisation innovation is fully aligned with the EU Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy, both of which aim to reduce the environmental impact of agriculture and promote sustainable food systems. By reducing reliance on synthetic agrochemicals and promoting renewable inputs, the project contributes to the EU’s targets for climate neutrality and biodiversity protection.
Strengthening Collaboration Across the Bioeconomy
EUBCE 2025 provided a valuable opportunity for AGRO4AGRI to engage with stakeholders across the biomass, bioenergy, and bioeconomy sectors. The project explored synergies with other EU-funded initiatives focused on biowaste valorisation, carbon management, and sustainable land use. These exchanges are essential for integrating AGRO4AGRI’s fertilisation technologies into broader bio-based value chains and policy frameworks.
Driving Innovation in Climate-Smart Agriculture
AGRO4AGRI’s presence at EUBCE 2025 reinforced its role as a key contributor to the future of climate-smart agriculture. The project’s work on biobased, slow-release fertilisers demonstrates how research and innovation can deliver practical, scalable solutions that benefit both farmers and the environment. By participating in high-level events like EUBCE, AGRO4AGRI continues to build momentum toward a more sustainable and circular European agri-food system.
