CTC Presents on Biochar and Circular Agriculture at Fundación Cajamar Webinar
On December 18th, the Centro Tecnológico CTC participated in a webinar organized by Fundación Cajamar, titled “Application of biochar to soils: an example of circularity in agriculture.”
The presentation focused on the role of biochar in sustainable agriculture and its potential to address pressing environmental challenges such as climate change and soil degradation. Biochar, often referred to as “Nature’s Black Gold,” is produced through pyrolysis of biomass and offers multiple benefits:
· Carbon sequestration to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
· Improved soil fertility and water retention.
· Integration into circular bioeconomy models for sustainable farming.
As part of Work Package 3 (WP3) of the AGRO4AGRI project, CTC showcased innovative research on controlled-release fertilizer systems using biochar as a nanocarrier. This approach enhances nutrient efficiency and reduces the environmental impact of intensive fertilizer use, aligning with the principles of precision agriculture and circularity.
The webinar provided an excellent platform to share insights on how bioproducts derived from agroforestry biomass can contribute to a greener future and support the transition toward sustainable agricultural practices. Learn more about the event here.
