GOOD PRACTICE #1 | AGRO4AGRI Joins Forces with NSC for Real-World Change

Laying the groundwork for collaboration

AGRO4AGRI’s integration into the Network for Safety and Sustainability of Chemicals and Materials (NSC) represents a strategic leap from isolated innovation to collaborative impact. While the interaction is still in its early stages, it reflects a shared ambition to connect agricultural innovation with broader sustainability frameworks under the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach.

Why this step matters

Agrochemical innovation sits at the intersection of environmental safety, material science, and societal needs. AGRO4AGRI recognised that meaningful change requires more than technical excellence: it demands collaboration across disciplines and sectors. Joining NSC opens the door to shared methodologies, peer learning, and a community of practice that can help shape the project’s trajectory.

A foundation for future alignment

Although formal alignment with NSC tools and indicators is still ahead, AGRO4AGRI’s participation signals intent. The project brings a unique agricultural perspective to NSC’s predominantly materials-focused dialogue, offering potential for new use cases, expanded SSbD applicability, and enriched stakeholder engagement strategies.

Building bridges, not silos

This early-stage integration is already fostering informal exchanges, mutual awareness, and opportunities for co-learning. As AGRO4AGRI continues to develop its sustainability assessments and stakeholder engagement tools, NSC provides a valuable platform for feedback, visibility, and future harmonisation.

A model in the making

AGRO4AGRI’s entry into NSC is not yet a success story – but it is a good practice in proactive networking. It shows how Horizon Europe projects can position themselves for greater relevance and impact by engaging early with thematic communities. As the collaboration matures, it may evolve into a blueprint for structured integration and cross-sectoral innovation.
